Is America on the verge of war? And, if so, with who? But, more so, how can we remain steadfast in our faith during challenging times? I recently shared with our Inkhorn Members an urgent call to pray as the House of Representatives passed a measure to automatically register men (and possibly women) into the military. Without a doubt, we are in some challenging times.
Think about it... the weather is off, the heat is excessive, the storms have increased, and people are out of character. And while these are some unusual times, they are not shocking. Matthew 24:33 said, “So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors.“ God loved us enough to foretell of things to come, but it is up to us to press through tough times and endure. Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth. (Revelations 3:10) To endure is to remain steadfast and a person who is steadfast is “firm and determined in a belief or a position." A steadfast person is “unwavering, steady, calm, unmovable, and stable.” God can help us remain steadfast no matter what the situation, especially when we apply these three impactful ways: 1.Trust in God’s Plan Scripture: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6 Application: Trusting in God helps you remain steadfast even when circumstances are difficult. This requires you to rely on Him rather than trying to figure it all yourself. This means learning how to discern His voice and obey His instructions. When you trust in God’s plan believing in His promises can provide hope and stability. 2. Persevere in Prayer Scripture: “Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer.” – Romans 12:12 Application: Prayer provides balance and stability when things get tough. When you pray without cease you deploy the act of remaining in consistent prayer. Prayer is what keeps you connected to God and helps strengthen your faith. Prayer is where God’s perfect peace, sure guidance, and the unwavering fortitude to endure trials is found. 3. Focus on God’s Word Scripture: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” – Psalm 119:105 Application: The word of God is rich. The word of God is a stabilizer. Regularly reading and meditating on the Bible provides wisdom and direction. The word is a light that illuminates your path and helps you stay grounded in truth, no matter what challenges arise. These are a few ways to remain steadfast in challenging times. What are scripture references do you lean on during hard times.
