Do you often hear words or phrases that compel you to write? Do the words you write inspire, encourage, guide or direct?
These are only a few signs experienced by revelatory writers. I understand, not everyone wants to write. Let’s face it, writing can be hard. Writing can be lonely. Writing requires commitment, focus, discipline, and contemplative thinking and many would prefer to choose another path. So, if you know writing is not for you, there is no need to continue reading. Honesty begins with knowing oneself. BUT... if you know that writing is in your DNA, perhaps it's time for you to embrace the call. Writing when done right is rewarding. More so, writing can generate extra income. Writing can leave a legacy. Writing can change lives. But, if you want to take your writing to the next level, aim to become a revelatory writer.
The revelatory writer is a branch within the prophetic scribal community.
Revelatory writers are chosen by God to transform lives through the power of the scribal pen. Revelatory writers are God’s vessels of ink pouring out His words on paper to transform lives. Some writers avoid the call to write in a revelatory way, but they can embrace the call by starting with these five steps: 1. Create a sacred writing space and time. Your sacred writing space can be as simple as a small desk and chair or as elaborate as an entire room. Keep this area clean and scheduled time and space can serve as a reminder to write. This is the place where you and God can meet to develop a writing strategy for your next work. Your sacred space and time should always begin with gratitude. 2. Begin with gratitude. Gratitude is the path taken by all revelatory writers must aggressively embrace. Gratitude is beneficial for every aspect of life, especially for the revelatory writer. Gratitude is what creates an atmosphere for writing. Gratitude has the power to shift your focus from what you don’t have or wish you had to all the good things you have right now. When you are grateful for the basics of life, the physical use of your fingers and mind, greater things will come. Gratitude as a revelatory writer brings balance and centers you in the present making it easier to collaborate and co-write with God. 3. Collaborate and Co-Write with God. When you collaborate and co-write with God, writing becomes easier. Similar to what takes place in academia when more two writers agree to publish a work the lead author sets the direction. When you co-write with God as a revelatory writer you allow Him to take the lead. He sets the direction and purpose of the work. When you co-write with God as a revelatory writer you listen for His instructions and write what you hear. 4. Engage in Listening Prayer. Revelatory writers embrace their call through active listening prayer. Listening prayer is how words are transcribed for others to read. The more a revelatory writer engages in listening prayer writing becomes impactful through the revelation received. 5. Connect with a Community of Revelatory Writers. As mentioned revelatory writing requires commitment. Revelatory writing requires focus. Revelatory writing requires discipline. Revelatory writing is lonely, but you are not alone.
