As a child I was terrified of storms, especially those that brought strong winds.
The loud claps of thunder often rattled my bedroom window and dissipated into the wind with a low rolling rumble. With each exploding clap of thunder, flash of lightning, and howling wind my heart raced. I was terrified of the divine power and authority behind the storms. And I have always believed that the greatness of God is more powerful than any force on earth. Storms still make me nervous, but, as I grew older I began to respect and honor God’s divine power and authority in a new way. Throughout Scripture, we read about the divine power and authority behind the storms. He is the one who controls the movement of the four winds. He is the God of the winds. The East, West, North, and South winds carry unique spiritual and prophetic meanings. 3/20/2025 Wind of God - Pt. 1Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. Mark 4:39 While Jesus slept a windstorm arose. The disciples became afraid. They awoke Him and asked if He cared if they were perishing.
Jesus rebuked the wind, and spoke peace to the sea. Then He asked why were they afraid? And why was their faith so small? Throughout Scripture, wind is more than just a natural force—it carries deep spiritual and prophetic significance. The Bible uses wind to represent the power, presence, judgment, and movement of God. It is also used as a symbol of the Holy Spirit, divine intervention, and prophetic shifts in the spiritual realm. |
